Crime Doesn’t Pay But Crime Stoppers Does!

Decatur and Macon County Area Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 when a felony arrest is made as a result of the information that you provide. Crime Stoppers will also pay $500 or more for information that leads to an arrest on the Crime of the Week. Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name. The Decatur Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
Detectives are investigating a series of burglaries at Alltown Bus Service, located at 1610 North Brant Court. Beginning around August 15th, approximately 30 buses were reportedly burglarized.
Security video shows approximately four juveniles entering the property during the late overnight hours by climbing the fence and gate. The suspects were then seen prying open the doors of the buses. Several personal items were stolen, including a wallet, a violin, and other small belongings. Damage was also reported to the dashboard of one bus.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Decatur Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 217-424-2734, or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 217-423-TIPS. Be sure to obtain a tip number for your records.
