News Release 05/19/20

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

The Decatur Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the owner or occupants of the vehicle pictured, in this released photo.

On May 18, 2020 at approximately 3:03 pm, officers were detailed to the 2200 Block of E Olive in reference to shots fired. The suspect vehicle was described as a tan Jeep Cherokee with an off-colored front driver side rim.

Two subjects exited the vehicle.  Suspect one was described as a b/m, medium complexion, approximately 6’ tall, thin build, in his early 20s, wearing a face covering, white hooded sweatshirt, and black plants.

The second suspect was described to be a b/m, medium complexion, approximately 5’8”, thicker build, early 20s, wearing a face mask, dark colored clothing, and bright blue shoes. Witnesses heard 5 shots fired from the area of 2200 E Olive and then saw the two subjects run back to the Jeep. 

The vehicle was seen leaving East bound on Logan.  While on scene, a gun-shot victim was dropped off at a local hospital. The two incidents are likely related.

There have been some auto burglaries in the area of 200 W. Spring St. The Decatur Police Department has obtained surveillance photos of the suspect. If you recognize or have any information regarding the suspect please contact Crime Stoppers at 423-TIPS or the Decatur Police Department Detective Bureau, at 424-2734.

News Release 01/17/20

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On July 5, 2018 at approximately 12:39am, Decatur Police Officers responded to shots fired in the 1200 block of East Whitmer.

On arrival, they located a gunshot victim laying in the driveway of 1245 E Whitmer St., who was deceased. The investigation revealed that the victim was attending a large party at the residence and was shot in the driveway. No suspect was identified.

News Release 12/13/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On September 14, 2019 at approximately 5:00pm, Decatur Police Officers responded to 1145 E. Cantrell St., in reference to a gunshot victim.

On arrival, officers determined that the victim had been taken to St. Mary’s and the victim was deceased.

Officers interviewed witnesses who advised, a suspect in all Black clothing with goggle like glasses over his eyes shot the victim. Witnesses told officers that the suspect was driving a Gold four door sedan and fled West on Cantrell St., after shooting the victim.

News Release 10/22/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 10/20/19, at approximately 1:48 AM, Decatur Police Officers responded to a person shot at 1403 East Wellington Way.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim was shot in the arm by an unknown suspect. The victim was approached by several suspects outside in the parking lot when he heard a loud bang and realized he had been shot in the arm. The suspects then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

News Release 08/16/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On August 14th, 2019 at approximately 12:24am, Decatur Police Officers responded to an armed robbery at 510 North Main St., PNC Bank.

On arrival, they spoke to the victim who advised he attempted to pull out money from an ATM in the banks drive up when a Black male in his later 20’s, 6’00 tall, skinny build approached him with a revolver and demanded that he pull out money from his account. The victim was able to run away from the suspect as the suspect fired one shot from his revolver, missing the victim. The suspect then ran Northbound from the scene.

The suspect was wearing a dark colored ballcap, dark colored Nike shirt and dark pants.

News Release 06/14/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On May 30th, 2019 at approximately 11:42pm, Decatur Police Officers responded to St. Mary’s Hospital, in reference to a gunshot victim.

On arrival, officers located deceased victim Suave Turner in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the chest. It was later determined that the victim was shot in the area of Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. and Division St.

Arrested.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

Currently the Decatur Police Department is searching for suspect Tommy L Call Jr., who is wanted for Aggravated Kidnapping and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Also, Tommy is wanted for multiple felony crimes in Macon County and surrounding counties. A photograph of the suspect has been added for your viewing.

News Release 03/20/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On September 3, 2018 at approximately 3:22 am, Decatur Police Officers responded to the area of 700 Cassell Ct in reference to a gunshot victim lying in the roadway.

On arrival, officers located the victim, Keith Brewer, lying in the roadway in front of 757 Cassell Ct. Brewer was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Witnesses on scene advised a vehicle turned around in the cul de sac and then pulled up next to the driver’s door of the vehicle Brewer was sitting in. The driver of the suspect car briefly spoke to Brewer. The suspect then pulled a handgun and shot Brewer. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle.  

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, approximately 5’ 02” in height, short hair, facial hair, and was wearing a white shirt.

Sometime between 11/26/18 and 01/23/19, a Snap Attack Football Passing Machine valued at approximately $3,000 was stolen from Eisenhower High School.

The Decatur Police Department requests your help in locating this machine or the suspects involved in this crime.
