The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

In the month of October, several armed robberies occurred in the evening hours on the parking lot of the Land of Lincoln Credit Union, 151 N. 22nd St. A black male suspect approached the victims with a black handgun and demanded money after the victims withdrew money from the ATM. The black male was described as 5’09” – 5’10” tall, thin build, and wearing a black mask.

News Release 10/19/17

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 10/16/17 at approximately 6:19 P.M., an attempted murder occurred at Monroe St. and Center St. The victim was driving a vehicle northbound, at the intersection of Monroe St. and Center St. The victim heard a loud noise and believed he had been in an accident and stopped his vehicle just south of the intersection.

Seven to ten black males age 17-21 years of age, then gathered near the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle, as the victim attempted to call 911. One of the black males who alleged he was struck by the victim pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The shooter and group of black males then ran southbound from the scene.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 09/15/17, at 12:10 A.M., the Decatur Police Department responded to the 1400 block of East Wood St., in reference to shots fired and a subject laying on the ground. Upon arrival, they found a victim with gunshot wounds who was deceased laying on the ground.

News Release 08/21/17

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 8/18/17 at approximately 9:15 P.M., a vehicle was traveling southbound in the 400 block of South Jasper Street. As this vehicle was traveling past the entrance of Johns Hill Park, a group of individuals who were standing on the west sidewalk began throwing rocks at the vehicle. One of the rocks struck a four year old child in the head who was seated in the back seat of the vehicle. The child received a life threatening skull fracture as a result of being struck in the head with the rock. The suspects are described as: black males, mid-teens, wearing white t-shirts.

News Release 07/25/17

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 07/24/17, at 7:20am it was reported that a theft and criminal damage to property occurred, on the parking lot of 150 W. Pershing Rd. (Miles Chevrolet). This theft and criminal damage occurred sometime between the hours of 3:00pm, on 07/23/17 and 7:00am on 07/24/17. An unknown suspect or suspects removed several rims and tires from new vehicles on the lot. These type of crimes have also occurred on other dealership lots in Effingham and Macon County.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 06/15/17, at approximately 1:30pm an attempted murder occurred at Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. and Cantrell St. The victim was sitting in the right front passenger seat of a vehicle when she was shot. There was another small Burgundy vehicle traveling West at the intersection prior to the shooting which is a vehicle of interest, in the investigation.

On 05/11/17, sometime between 02:00am and 06:30am a burglary occurred to Carolyn’s Mega Slots which is a gaming facility, at 1621 E. Eldorado St. The suspect or suspects made entry to the building and removed an ATM that had cash stored inside the machine.

Water St.  This burglary occurred sometime between the hours of 12:00am and 4:42am, on 02/13/17.  The suspect or suspects made entry to the building and removed an ATM that had cash stored inside the machine.

News Release 03/06/17

The Illinois State Police needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 02/09/17, at 7:35pm, a Personal Injury Hit and Run Accident occurred on I72 and mile marker 148.

The suspect vehicle in this accident is possibly a 2006 to 2009 Chevy Impala with dark silver tarnished paint.  The vehicle was traveling Eastbound on I72 at the intersection of I72 and mile marker 148.  The suspect vehicle was in the right lane and crossed the fog line striking two pedestrians which caused serious injury to one of the pedestrians.  The suspect vehicle then continued driving East on I72.

News Release 02/07/17

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 01/24/17, at 12:48am, an Armed Robbery occurred at the BP Gas Station, 2185 E. Wood St.

The suspect was described as a black male, 6’ 02” in height, 170 pounds.   He was wearing all black clothing with a black hooded coat and a black and red ski mask covering his face.  The suspect pointed a black handgun at the clerk and took currency from the register and merchandise from the store.   The suspect then took off running from the scene westbound on Wood St.
