News Release 03/20/19

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On September 3, 2018 at approximately 3:22 am, Decatur Police Officers responded to the area of 700 Cassell Ct in reference to a gunshot victim lying in the roadway.

On arrival, officers located the victim, Keith Brewer, lying in the roadway in front of 757 Cassell Ct. Brewer was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Witnesses on scene advised a vehicle turned around in the cul de sac and then pulled up next to the driver’s door of the vehicle Brewer was sitting in. The driver of the suspect car briefly spoke to Brewer. The suspect then pulled a handgun and shot Brewer. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle.  

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, approximately 5’ 02” in height, short hair, facial hair, and was wearing a white shirt.

Sometime between 11/26/18 and 01/23/19, a Snap Attack Football Passing Machine valued at approximately $3,000 was stolen from Eisenhower High School.

The Decatur Police Department requests your help in locating this machine or the suspects involved in this crime.

News Release 12/11/18

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 11/04/2018, at approximately 1:32 A.M., Decatur Police Officers responded to Woodmound Plaza, located at 3715 N. Woodford Street, in reference to a subject that had been stabbed. The victim died as a result of the stabbing.

The suspect in the stabbing was a passenger in a black, or dark-colored Chevrolet HHR 4-door passenger vehicle with chrome wheels and chrome door handles. The suspect is described as a black male, average height, slender build with shoulder-length braids or dreadlocks.  The suspect was described as having a gold adornment of some kind in his hair.

The driver of the Chevrolet HHR is described as a black male with a heavy build and an “Afro” hairstyle.

A witness is also being sought and is described as a black male with a heavy build, wearing a light blue shirt. During the time of the incident, the witness and a black female left the Feeling Lucky Lounge, located at 3775 N. Woodford Street, and walked to the area where the stabbing occurred.

News Release 11/05/18

The Macon County Sheriff’s Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 10/30/18, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Macon County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of US Route 36 and Shaw Rd., near Casner, IL, in reference to a vehicle vs. bicyclist accident.

Upon arrival, the bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for serious injuries. The suspect vehicle left the scene prior to EMS or Deputies arrival. An eyewitness on scene described the suspect vehicle as a smaller red car. The witness stated the bicyclist was riding westbound on the north side of Route 36 when the bicyclist was struck from behind, by the suspect vehicle. The witness advised, the suspect vehicle continued westbound on Route 36 toward Decatur.

Deputies located a red piece of the suspect vehicle’s front bumper. It was determined that the piece of bumper belongs to a red Chevy Impala. The suspect vehicle should have damage to the front passenger bumper/wheel well.

News Release 10/23/18

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 10/16/18, at 9:55pm an Armed Robbery occurred in the area of 1200 E. Leafland Ave. An employee of City Taxi was picking up a customer when they were robbed at gunpoint.

The suspect was a light skinned black male, approximately 15-19 years of age, 5’09-5’10 foot tall, 160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a Red hooded sweatshirt and Red Bandanna that was covering his face. The suspect displayed a Black and Gray semi-automatic handgun and took money from the victim. The suspect was last seen running Northbound on Lowber St.

News Release 08/14/18

The Macon County Sheriff’s Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 07/06/18, at 4:30pm, employees of the Cody Redman Auction House, located at 2102 NW IL Rt. 121, secured the business as usual and left for the evening. When they returned at 9:00am on 07/07/18, they discovered that the business door had been forced open and several firearms inside the business had been stolen.

News Release 07/11/18

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 07/09/18, sometime between 3:07am and 3:14am, a burglary occurred to “P and G Quick Stop” at 202 N. Railroad Ave., in Blue Mound Il.

Two white males broke into the store and stole several bottles of alcohol. The white males were captured on video surveillance as they fled the store with the alcohol loaded on a dolly.

On 09/15/17, at 12:10 A.M., the Decatur Police Department responded to the 1400 block of East Wood St., in reference to shots fired and a subject laying on the ground. Upon arrival, they found a victim with gunshot wounds who was deceased laying on the ground.

News Release 04/25/18

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 04/23/18, at approximately 8:25pm, a hit and run personal injury accident occurred at 100 N. Fairview Avenue. A dark blue hatchback, possibly a Toyota, driven by a white male, 30-40 years of age, was traveling south on Fairview Avenue and struck a pedestrian who was crossing in the crosswalk. The suspect vehicle then fled west on Main Street from the scene of the accident.

News Release 03/22/18

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 03/19/18, at approximately 10:42 pm an armed robbery and home invasion occurred in the south parking lot of 1330 E. Wellington Way. A black male wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes with white accents approached the victim who was sitting in their vehicle.

The black male brandished a silver revolver and stole U.S. currency from the victim. The black male then forced the victim back to their apartment where he stole other valuable items from another victim who was inside the apartment.
