News Release 2/4/14

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On January 8th at approximately 2:26am, Officers were detailed to Circle K gas station located at 3798 N. Woodford St in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned the gas station had been robbed of US Currency by a subject yielding a brown handled knife.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, 508-510, 200-220 pounds wearing a black ski mask and hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled atop his head, with a white t-shirt underneath, dark colored pants and white tennis shoes. The victim also advised the suspect had a goatee as she could see this from the design of the ski mask.

Again on January 26th at approximately 10:29pm, officers were detailed to Huck’s gas station located at 204 N. 22nd, where a black male had entered the store, pulled out a knife and demanded the clerk to open the cash drawer. The victim advised the black male removed an amount of US Currency then fled the store.

The victim described the black male as 511-600, muscular build, 19-21 years of age, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, green colored bandana covering his face, black jeans and black colored boots.

A white Ford Taurus with an unknown license plate number was involved in both of these armed robberies.

News Release 1/20/14

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On January 17th ,a short time before midnight, a home invasion occurred in the 4000 block of N. Water St. The suspect entered the home by forcing open two different doors that lead to the inside of the residence. Once inside the residence, the suspect located two victims in their bedroom. The suspect pointed an object at the victims, which the victims thought was a gun. The suspect then demanded money or he would kill them. The victims handed over an amount of U.S. currency and the suspect fled the residence. The object pointed at the victims was later determined to be a black colored plastic pipe.

The victims described the suspect as possibly Hispanic due to having tan or darker skin tone and a foreign accent, 602-604, 220-250, wearing all dark clothing and a cloth covering the lower portion of his face.

News Release 12/18/13

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On December 2nd, at approximately 1:00am, officers responded to the 900 block of N. Edward in reference to an armed robbery of a person. Once officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the victim who advised he had been robbed of cash by two black males while preparing his vehicle and trailer for work the next morning.

The victim reported feeling what he knew to be the barrel of a shotgun in the small of his back. The victim also reported hearing the “racking” sound of a pump action shotgun accompanied by a subject saying “don’t move”. The victim advised the suspect reached his hand into his pants pocket and removed money he uses for work and his wallet from his back pocket. The wallet was later recovered near the scene.

The victim advised he was able to maneuver his way away from the suspect, activating the panic alarm on his truck causing two black males to flee the scene. The victim reported observing two black males, late teens early 20’s, 6’00” 170 pound range flee the scene in an easterly direction.

At approximately 6:15pm on 10/1/13, an unknown, young looking, possibly mixed male, attempted to burglarize Chi-Town’s Tip, at 840 N. Morgan St., until the burglar alarm system ran him off. Between 8:00am and 4:30pm on 6/26/13, an unknown black male burglarized a vehicle in a parking garage located at 104 E. North St., stealing items of value from the vehicle. On 9/24/12 at approximately 9:30pm, officers were detailed to 2124 E. Hendrix St., in reference to gunshots heard in the area. Officers responded to this location and the ultimate outcome of this call was the shooting death of Kevin Abdullah. While we have received many tips regarding this case, Detectives still need more information.

Sometime between August 29th and September 2nd, unknown person(s) burglarized several construction trailers located at the Ameren Sub Station at 4156 Cundiff Rd. Suspect(s) stole approximately $50,000 in tools and $30,000 in copper wire. There are no suspect(s) at this time.

Between 6:00pm on August 16th and 9:20am on August 19th, unknown person(s) burglarized Prairie Compounding Pharmacy located at 2801 N. Main. Suspect(s) pried their way in to the north door of the business. Once inside, suspect(s) stole over $25,000 worth of pharmaceutical drugs. At this time there are no suspect(s).

Between 2:10am and 2:19am on July 19th, a black male burglarized Subway at 1015 W. Eldorado by throwing a rock through a west window of the business. Once inside the business, the suspect stole food and beverage items. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing dark clothing, approximately 5’10” 180 pounds.
