Crime of the Week 5-22-23

 

 The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On May 4th, 2023 Decatur Police responded to Premier Auto Sales located at 1140 West Pershing in reference to a burglary. 

 

Officers arrived on scene and observed forced entry to the business.  Through the investigation it was determined during the early morning hours on this date two suspects forced entry to the business and stole several items which consisted of numerous car keys, dealer license plates, and a vehicle which was later recovered.   

A nearby surveillance camera captured the suspects on the lot.  The first suspect is wearing all black clothing with an unknown design on the left pant leg.  The second suspect is wearing a dark colored jacket with light colored pants.

Crime of the Week 5/1/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On April 17th, 2023 Decatur Police were made aware of a theft of several air conditioning units in the 300 block of W Prairie.  These thefts occurred at several different businesses and residences in this block. 

 

The thefts would likely to have occurred sometime after April 10th and there is no suspect information.

Crime of the Week 4/17/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On April 10th, 2023 at approximately 4:45P.M.  Decatur Police responded to the Soy City Motel Located at 1828 E Eldorado in reference to a robbery. 

 

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to a victim who advised he was standing outside in the parking lot of the Motel when two b/m suspects approached him.  One suspect was described as a b/m, approximately 6`00″ with short braids wearing a red colored shirt and the second suspect was described as a b/m approximately 40 years of age wearing a blue shirt. 

 

Without provocation these suspects began hitting the victim multiple times knocking him to the ground and removing an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s pocket. 

 

The suspects then entered a tan colored older style Toyota brand SUV and drive off the lot W/B on Eldorado Street.  A picture of the suspects’ vehicle can be observed below.

Crime of the week 3/20/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

During the overnight hours between February 28th, and March 1st, 2023, several air conditioning units were removed from various addresses in the Wabash Crossing apartment complex.  These AC Units were all taken from apartments located in the 1000 block of North Martin Luther King.  The suspect(s) also forced entry and removed a water heater from one of the vacant apartments in this block.

Crime of the week 3-13-23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On February 22nd, 2023 at approximately 12:20 A.M. Decatur Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of E Walnut in reference to a shooting. 

 

Officers arrived on scene and observed a residence in this block to have multiple bullet defects.   Officers observed numerous shell casings outside near the rear of the residence.    

Nobody inside the house was struck and the occupant of the residence had no idea who would want to shoot their house.

Crime of the week 2-20-23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On February 6th, 2023, at approximately 11:15 P.M. Decatur Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of South 19th Street in reference to a homicide. 

Officers arrived at the house and observed a victim in the bedroom with multiple gun-shot wounds.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A witness inside the house informed police four armed individuals, dressed in all black, forced their way inside the residence and shot the victim.  These individuals then left the residence in an unknown direction.

Crime of the week 2/6/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On January 23, 2023, at approximately 11:30 A.M. Decatur Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of E Pythian in reference to a home invasion. 

 

Upon arrival Decatur Police spoke to two victims who advised they were inside a residence when two suspects entered the house unannounced.  At gunpoint, one of the suspects demanded money from the victims.  The victims handed the suspects an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspects then ran out the house and were observed getting in a burnt orange 4-dr sedan that drove away E/B towards 22nd street. 

 

The first suspect was described as a b/m, heavier set, 5’11” tall, wearing a black hooded shirt.  This suspect was observed holding a silver-colored handgun in one hand and a black colored handgun in the other.    

 

The second suspect was a b/m, wearing a ski mask.

Crime of the week 1-30-23

Crime Stoppers in the Decatur / Macon County area need your help regarding an aggravated cruelty to an animal.

 

On January 24th at approximately 8:30A.M., Macon County Deputies were dispatched near the intersection of Illiniwick / Sawyer Rd. just outside of Forsyth. 

Deputies arrived on scene and observed a large breed, brindle colored dog locked inside a crate.  The dog was deceased and appeared to have been neglected for a lengthy period of time. The dog was wearing a collar which contained multi-colored cartoon bones with a pink buckle.  (Photo attached).

Crime of the week 1/23/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On January 15th, 2023, Decatur Police responded to the 1000 block of W Green in reference to a shooting. 

 

Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous shell casings in the roadway.  A short time later a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

Police spoke to the victim who advised he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle in this block when a blue colored Ford Fusion drove past him going W/B.  As the vehicle drove by the passenger in this Ford Fusion leaned out and began shooting at him multiple times.  The Ford Fusion continued driving W/B and was last observed N/B on Oakland Street. 

 

Both the driver and passenger in the Ford Fusion were B/M’s, wearing face coverings, who appeared to be in their 20’s.

Crime of the Week 12/5/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On November 27th at approximately 2:30 A.M. Decatur Police responded to the south alley of the 1600 block of E William in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival officers observed a gun shot victim with a non-life-threatening injury to their leg.  The victim was unable to provide any suspect information regarding this shooting.

Officers observed numerous shell casings in this alley and recovered a firearm. 

Officers spoke to a witness who advised an older model “army green” 4-door van was possibly involved as it drove away N/B on 17th, directly after the shooting.  A witness also observed an individual dressed in all black color clothing run directly towards this van right after the shots were fired.
