Crime of the week 2/6/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On January 23, 2023, at approximately 11:30 A.M. Decatur Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of E Pythian in reference to a home invasion. 

 

Upon arrival Decatur Police spoke to two victims who advised they were inside a residence when two suspects entered the house unannounced.  At gunpoint, one of the suspects demanded money from the victims.  The victims handed the suspects an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspects then ran out the house and were observed getting in a burnt orange 4-dr sedan that drove away E/B towards 22nd street. 

 

The first suspect was described as a b/m, heavier set, 5’11” tall, wearing a black hooded shirt.  This suspect was observed holding a silver-colored handgun in one hand and a black colored handgun in the other.    

 

The second suspect was a b/m, wearing a ski mask.

Crime of the week 1-30-23

Crime Stoppers in the Decatur / Macon County area need your help regarding an aggravated cruelty to an animal.

 

On January 24th at approximately 8:30A.M., Macon County Deputies were dispatched near the intersection of Illiniwick / Sawyer Rd. just outside of Forsyth. 

Deputies arrived on scene and observed a large breed, brindle colored dog locked inside a crate.  The dog was deceased and appeared to have been neglected for a lengthy period of time. The dog was wearing a collar which contained multi-colored cartoon bones with a pink buckle.  (Photo attached).

Crime of the week 1/23/23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On January 15th, 2023, Decatur Police responded to the 1000 block of W Green in reference to a shooting. 

 

Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous shell casings in the roadway.  A short time later a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

Police spoke to the victim who advised he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle in this block when a blue colored Ford Fusion drove past him going W/B.  As the vehicle drove by the passenger in this Ford Fusion leaned out and began shooting at him multiple times.  The Ford Fusion continued driving W/B and was last observed N/B on Oakland Street. 

 

Both the driver and passenger in the Ford Fusion were B/M’s, wearing face coverings, who appeared to be in their 20’s.

Crime of the Week 12/5/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On November 27th at approximately 2:30 A.M. Decatur Police responded to the south alley of the 1600 block of E William in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival officers observed a gun shot victim with a non-life-threatening injury to their leg.  The victim was unable to provide any suspect information regarding this shooting.

Officers observed numerous shell casings in this alley and recovered a firearm. 

Officers spoke to a witness who advised an older model “army green” 4-door van was possibly involved as it drove away N/B on 17th, directly after the shooting.  A witness also observed an individual dressed in all black color clothing run directly towards this van right after the shots were fired.

Crime of the week 11-14-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On November 7th, 2022, at approximately 11:15 P.M. Decatur Police responded to the 300 block of W. Main St. in reference to a home invasion.    

Officers arrived on scene and observed forced entry to the residence.  Officers spoke to the victim who advised he was asleep in his bedroom when an unknown suspect forced entry to his front door.  The suspect walked to the bedroom and a struggle ensued.  The suspect punched the victim multiple times in the facial area causing injury.  The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left the residence on foot in an unknown direction. 

 

The suspect was described as a b/m, 6`2”, 210 lbs., wearing a black colored Carhart brand hoodie, black colored pants, and gloves.

Crime of the week 10/31/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On October 25th, 2022, at approximately 5:45 P.M. Decatur Police responded to the 1500 block of Terrace Dr. in reference to a shooting. 

Officers arrived on scene and observed evidence of a shooting.  Soon after arriving on scene a victim arrived at a local hospital with life threatening injuries.  The victim advised he was shot by an unknown race male wearing a black colored ski mask and gray hooded shirt. 

Witnesses observed a dark colored sedan driving at a high rate of speed N/B on Woodford after the shooting.

Crime of the week 10-3-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On September 25th, 2022 at approximately 3:15 PM Decatur Police responded to an address on North Drive in reference to a robbery. 

Decatur Police arrived on scene and spoke to an elderly disabled victim who advised they were sitting on their front porch when a b/m suspect approached and began asking for money.  The suspect walked onto the victim’s front porch and pulled the victim to the ground and kicked him.  The suspect removed the victim’s wallet and left on foot running S/B on West Drive. 

 

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned b/m, 30 – 40 yoa, 5’7” – 5’8”, weighing 180lbs.  The suspect was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt and blue colored pants or jeans.

Crime of the week 8/22/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On August 10th, 2022 at approximately 5:45 A.M. Decatur Police responded to Land of Lincoln Credit Union located at 3130 E mound in reference to a theft.

Police arrived on scene and observed an ATM machine to be damaged along with various tools lying near this machine.  An undisclosed amount of money was taken from this ATM machine. 

A witness observed several male suspects leaving the area after the theft in a blue colored Chrysler 300.   The suspects in this car all had their faces covered with various articles of clothing.  This Chrysler was last observed driving S/B on Rt. 48 from Mound Road. 

Security footage was able to capture two of the suspects prior to damaging the ATM machine.  Footage of these suspects appear under the “Wanted Faces” tab.

Crime of the week 8-8-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On July 31st, 2022 at approximately 2:00A.M. Decatur police responded to 2882 N Dineen in reference to a shooting. 

 

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 14-year-old juvenile with an apparent gunshot wound.  Three additional gunshot victims were transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Numerous shell casings were recovered, and several individuals have been interviewed reference this incident.

 

The Decatur Police believe there are several more witnesses who observed or have information regarding this homicide. The Police Department is asking these witnesses to come forward.  You can contact Det. St. Pierre or Det. Crime of the Week 8-1-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On July 24th, 2022, at approximately 3:45 P.M. Decatur police responded to the 1100 block of E Leafland in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed an individual with injuries to his hand and arm from gun fire. 

Officers spoke to the victim who advised he was walking in the street when he heard 3–4-gun shots coming from the north. After the shots were fired, the victim felt pain in his hand and arm and realized he was injured. The victim had no suspect information.

 

Officers spoke to numerous individuals on scene who heard the shooting but had no other relevant information.
