Crime of the week 9/20/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On September 16th, 2021 at approximately 12:30 A.M. Decatur Police responded to Apex Petroleum gas station located at 2185 E Wood in reference to an armed robbery.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to an employee who advised a suspect armed with a handgun entered the business and demanded money. This suspect then fired one round from his gun towards the counter. After firing his weapon, the suspect then exited the store and fled on foot north bound from the business.

The suspect is described as a b/m, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’11” with an average build. The suspect was wearing a white surgical mask, black hooded Nike shirt, blue/green surgical gloves, and gray colored shoes. The suspect ‘s gun was 9mm caliber which was chrome and black in color.

News release 2/20/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. This week’s crime of the week is in reference to an armed robbery that occurred at 2185 E. Wood, Apex Petroleum. The Decatur Police Department feels this armed robbery is in connection with armed robberies that occurred at Dollar General, 3797 E. Rt. 36 and Huck’s, 3595 Larkdale Ct.

On February 16, 2012, at 3:03 AM, officers responded to Apex Petroleum, 2185 E. Wood in reference to an armed robbery. Once on scene, officers spoke to an employee who advised a b/m entered the store, shopped around for a short time, then approached the checkout counter and produced a dark colored handgun demanding all the money. The employee complied with the suspect and turned over US Currency. The suspect then fled the business w/b on Wood St.

The suspect is described as a b/m, 508/100, wearing a dark colored heavy hooded coat with fur around the hood. The coat also had the word “Chicago” on the front and back of the coat. The suspect was also wearing a fisherman’s hat and white rimmed sunglasses. The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this crime.

News Release 2/14/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. This week’s crime of the week is in reference to an attempted armed robbery that occurred at Dollar General, 3797 E Rt. 36 and an armed robbery at Huck’s Convenient Store, 3595 Larkdale Ct. The Decatur Police Department feels that these two crimes are connected.

On February 7, 2012, at 8:58PM, officers responded to Dollar General, 3797 E. Rt. 36, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. Once on scene, officers spoke to an employee who advised she recognized two subjects acting strange outside the business when she was outside checking for carts in the parking lot. The employee advised a w/m entered the store just before the attempted robbery and bought a candy bar, the same candy bar bought before the last time they were robbed. The employee advised the w/m was acting strange and very nervous. The employee advised this made her nervous so she locked the doors to the business. The employee advised a short time later she noticed a b/m, armed with a black colored pistol, standing outside the doors pulling on them attempting to get in however he did not get in and fled the scene.

The employee described two subjects who may be connected with this crime. Suspect #1 is described as a w/m, stock build, eye glasses, reddish colored hair, unknown clothing, approximately 20-30 years old. Suspect #2 was described as a b/m, armed with a dark colored pistol, medium to average build, approximately 508/170, wearing a black coat with the hood up and fur around the hood, black colored ski mask covering his entire face, approx. 20-30 years old.

At 9:57PM, the same night, Officers responded to a hold up alarm located at Huck’s, 3595 Larkdale Ct. Officers quickly obtained information from the employee that she had been robbed by a b/m armed with a black colored handgun. The suspect fled the scene towards Larkdale Subdivision and got away with US Currency.
The employee described the b/m as in his 20’s, approximately 510 inches tall, average build, wearing a dark grayish colored hooded jacket with fur around the hood, a black colored full face ski mask, gloves and dark colored jeans. The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving these two crimes.

News Release 2/7/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On February 5, 2012, officers responded to Parkway Church of the Nazarine, 2701 E. Fairies Parkway, in reference to an unchecked burglary. Upon arrival, Officers discovered window screens pried away from the windows on the south side where it is believed entry was made to the Church.

Once inside officers discovered several locked doors inside the Church were forced open. Suspects removed US currency and damaged numerous items within the building. There are no suspects at this time. The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this crime.
